Instead of preventing us from importing items from the Crystal Commerce catalog if the category attributes aren't a 100% match, give us a warning about which items will not be transferred and then allow us to map the items to different attributes or at the very least continue with the import if we're ok with the amount of data that will be lost. It's way easier to fix a couple of attributes than it is to completely create a new item from scratch.
This is particularly irksome when Crystal Commerce decides to move an item to a new category. The X-Wing Miniatures game is a good example. It started out in board games, and so I started my own category based on the board games category so I could import the items. Then they split it into a new category with a completely different set of attributes and so from then on I could never import the items from the Crystal Commerce global catalog. I have to manually create each new item that comes in, or completely rebuild the category and lose all of the history I have on each item. Since the history is valuable for me to have I opt to do the extra work.
