Retailers need to be able to get an order/shipment from distribution and quickly add that to their inventory. Being able to use a barcode scanner and scan items in and add the qty to their stock along with pricing the items if it is brand new would save them a lot of time.
This would be great for items that the Retailer had previously in stock, but also for brand new items of the store that had not been previously imported. Having to unload boxes, search import and then add qty and pricing is time consuming and if they cannot find it on import they often create a custom product for it.
