The current event sign up is a nice feature for simple things like FNM where it is a returning regular customer, but not useful for MCQs or Regionals which have often many new customers. A single collection point of names (first and last) and a DCI number are needed. To be able to export those sign ups into a csv would make the preregistration process fluid on the scorekeeper end. I believe this would also qualify for what WotC is looking for in event sign-ups, or to be able to make a very specific event page with all sorts of flash and niceness like a Magic Fest or SCG Open.
