Update us another way!

When the admin shuts down for maintenance etc, you tend to post updates about your progress in the chat.  But we can't SEE the chat during downtime, so perhaps you could think of a better way to post updates so that we actually know what is going on.  It's useless to be able to log back on after a couple of hours and see all of the updates that are no longer relevant.
