Preorder not just for specific dates, but an indefinite preorder option

Is there a way for product to stay in a preorder status indefinitely rather than automatically coming off of preorder on a specific date? There are so many products missing their release dates that this would be massively beneficial

    I think we're talking about the same thing, but yes, having the option to set a pre-order without adding a date. SO many things are just late these days, so to set an item as a pre-order without a date would save us for endless "pushing back" items.

    Shopify seems to have this... :-P
