It would be great if this system was better streamlined to save time.
MAX QTY
The system used to have in the normal inventory editing area but now it seems to have disappeared. Can you put this back after buy price in editing mode? The big flaw of this is if you set the max qty to 4. A customer could buy 4, refresh page, buy 4 more, until you're out of stock. It's easier to deal with through direct website purchases but a nightmare when it happens through TCGplayer.
RESERVED QTY
The system is great but geared for B&M stores that want to keep some in store. The challenge for stores is when a card spikes we might get bought out immediately. We got sales and that's great. But having 50 of an item you're losing potentially $10 per can be frustrating. It would be great if this was next to the max qty while editing instead of having to click on edit > item for each one just to see what the reserved amount is (that's very time consuming).
This will allow us to list our entire inventory and be able to block all but a certain amount off without having to worry about issues with TCGplayer, ebay, and so we don't have to keep any unlisted inventory in a separate box. It currently allows only a fixed number, a % of qty, and a % of opt qty. Also, if we have 10 of a card and use 100% of res qty, then we add a card. The total reserved stays at 10. We need an option that lets us do the opposite so we can reserve qty to (qty = 100% - X). This way we can have 10, 20, 50 available to sell and we simply manually reload if all those sell.
SOLUTION
The best fix would be (in the editing area) to shift the "Qty" column left more. There's a good 2 inches of room between the last of the "Type" column and "manage" button for each card. The "Hold" column can be made longer and changed to a Reserved Qty "Res" column with the same features as the "price %" and "Price +$" columns. It can be set as 100% qty - # with "Res %" and "Res %" columns.
This solution will increase the amount of mistaken clicks initially as well as with the price % columns. To solve this, those numbers should always be grayed out, and unchecking the thumbtack will allow you to manually edit it. and will gray back out once you save it This should differ from the Price % thumbtack where it's always editable and permanently unchecked when you custom manage the price %/+.
I just want to add that this also has to be searchable. Many stores want to keep at least a playset or two available in stock. This means we actually have to be able to have a variant search that allows us to see when qty # - res qty # is less than 4. It's frustrating to not be able to search this and we end up getting random cards showing only 1-3 cards available and it's impossible to search for cards in those parameters
